La Galerie SAS et Catherine Bolduc en solo à Pulse NY 2011
La Galerie SAS est fière d’annoncer sa participation à la foire internationale d’art contemporain PULSE New York 2011 pour une troisième année consécutive. Cette année, nous y présenterons une exposition solo de l’artiste multidisciplinaire Catherine Bolduc à travers une sélection de dessins et de sculptures.
Catherine Bolduc : Dans sa pratique artistique (installation, sculpture, vidéo et dessin), Catherine Bolduc s’intéresse à la manière que la psyché humaine perçoit et construit la réalité en y projetant ses propres désirs, en la transgressant par la fabrication de merveilleux et de fiction. Son travail se nourrit principalement d’expériences subjectives liées à des souvenirs personnels lors desquelles la fabulation et l’idéalisation opèrent une transfiguration mentale du réel ou lorsque, inversement, le désir subit l’épreuve de la réalité, que l’illusion fait face à la désillusion et à la déception. Ses œuvres invitent à faire l’expérience d’objets et d’espaces fantasmagoriques qui réfèrent, par exemple, à une vie idéale fantasmée, à la recherche d’exotisme, à l’utopie amoureuse, à l’errance onirique, mais où la magie montre aussi son autre revers. Son intention esthétique est d’évoquer la vulnérabilité humaine devant l’inadéquation entre les désirs et la réalité.

PULSE NY : Dans le cadre de sa sixième édition, la foire Pulse aura lieu dans le Pavillon Métropolitain du District Flatiron à Manhattan et ce, du 3 au 6 mars 2011. Le stand de la galerie se retrouvera dans la section Impulse.

Galerie SAS is proud to announce its participation to the PULSE New York 2011 Contemporary Art Fair for a third consecutive year. This year, we will present a solo exhibition of the multidisciplinary artist Catherine Bolduc through a slection of drawings and sculptures.
Catherine Bolduc: In the practice of her art (installation, sculpture, video and drawing), Catherine Bolduc is interested in the way the human psyche perceives and constructs reality by feeding it with its own desires, by transgressing it with its fabrication of fantasy and fiction. The core of her work rests on subjective experiences dealing with personal memories in which fabulation and idealization produce a mental transfiguration of reality or conversely revisited desire is subjected to the ordeal of reality, illusion faces disillusion and deception head-on. Her work is an invitation to experience phantasmagorical objects and spaces alluding to, for instance, an ideal fantasized life, exotic quests, utopian dreams of love, oneiric wanderings, but where magic also reveals its dark side. Her aesthetic intention is to evoke human vulnerability when facing the discrepancy between desires and reality.

PULSE NY: For its sixth edition, the Pulse Fair will be held in the Metropolitan Pavilion located in the Manhattan’s Flatiron District from March 3 to 6, 2011. The stand of the gallery will be located at the Impulse section.
